MOVING INTO THE LAST WEEK AND PASSING 2000 MILES
In the morning our first early start since day one took Frank, Nir , Pat and I backwards to Wentzville on RT 70. The incoming traffic to St Louis looked like we were back in LA. Frank and I started paralleling rt 70 which will be our route for the next several days. It was 51 miles through flat farmland north of St Louis where the Mississippi river takes a large bend. The early start gave us comfortable temperatures for a change. We crossed the Mississippi at Alton into Illinois over a beautiful bridge and I continued to reach 75 miles as the temperatures rose to the 90 degrees.

The following terrain was straight and flat with a few hills in the end at Effingham. Frank decided he wanted to do 100 miles. How about that after we had decided to start early and finish early? That decision got us in at 6 pm especially after getting lost finding our motel and getting stuck in the HS homecoming parade. Well I told Frank I would do 100 the next day and he thought not a good idea. I was driving at the time so a few miles up the road I pulled Nir over to drive because I was going to do 100 also. Frank and I at that point decided that we were from the same gene pools including the stubborn pool, the competitive pool, change your mind pool, the dumb pool and perhaps the nuts pool as we were doing this in 93 degree weather. Anyhow we did our 100 each and were joined by Pat so 3 Bucknellians posted 100 miles to celebrate us reaching the million for scholarships.
We had a great dinner at Fridays and crashed for the night. Back to back 100s-NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
