We got started a little late after getting back from the Bucknell dinner thrown for us by Ron Benjamin at a gorgeous Argentine restaurant. Thanks Ron!!!!Also had Bill Stock and wife Carol came up from home and joined us. Bill and I ran competively around the world with the US Masters team for years so it was a great reunion after a 29-year hiatus.
We left Heritage, MO and drove to Etterville where Jay and I started the Bucknell 100 mile leg. Driving through the Land of the Ozarks was not too scenic and commercially overdone for miles. It was not as I remembered years ago when I attended a cardiac course. Jay and I hit a few tough hills on our 20-mile 1st leg in 90-degree weather. We then followed Frank and Kyle for some great photos at the Capital building of Jefferson City overlooking the Missouri river, which was crossed afterwards into endless flat farmland. Jay and I took over at 40 miles and finished our 51 miles including 8 miles of “ROLLERS” They were rollers all right 5mph up and 30-40 mph down. Frank and Kyle took over to finish their 50 miles with 11 miles of rollers. Lots of flat before and after. Passed Daniel Boone’s monument paid our respects and checked into our Day’s Inn motel overlooking the lakes of Saint louis. We had to drive backwards on route 70 from Wentzville in order to get a motel.
Dinner was a hoot at h—–s. Tomorrow we cross the Mississippi and enter Illinois.
BEST NEWS OF THE DAY BUCKNELL HIT THE million dollar mark!!!!!!!!!!!!
